Regain Your Confidence with Permanent Electrolysis

Do you ever run your fingers over your face and feel that unwanted reminder of coarse, persistent hair that just won’t go away?

Whether you’re a trans woman reclaiming your identity, battling that pesky new menopausal chin hair, struggling with excessive facial hair from PMOS, or a man in search of a hair-free back, you deserve skin that feels as smooth as it looks.

The Only Permanent Solution

Electrolysis is not just another temporary fix. It’s the only FDA-approved permanent hair removal method. Unlike shaving, waxing, or laser treatments, electrolysis targets hair at its source, permanently eliminating the structures that enable hair growth.

Imagine a life where you can confidently touch your face without feeling that nagging, unwanted hair!

Who We Help

We regularly support clients who:

  • Feel facial hair when they touch their skin, especially on the chin or upper lip

  • Experience excess hair due to PMOS, menopause, or HRT

  • Are trans women seeking permanent, long-term hair removal as part of their transition

  • Are tired of waxing, shaving, or tweezing, and want a cleaner, more permanent solution

You are welcome, safe, and understood at EQ Lounge.

How Electrolysis Feels

Clients describe the sensation as a quick pinch, zap, or warmth, depending on the area and sensitivity. Treatments are always tailored to your comfort. The treated hair is gently released and removed immediately.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Electrolysis requires a course of treatments due to hair’s natural growth cycles. You are playing the long game with electrolysis, and depending how quickly you want the hair removed, you can expect weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions for around 6 months to a year. We will be getting to know each other well!

We’ll discuss a personalised plan in your consultation, but as a guide:

  • Small areas (chin, upper lip): 15–30 mins per session, every 2–4 weeks for around 8-12 months

  • Full face 60-120 mins per session, every week for around 6-8 months

Frequently Asked “Electrolysis” Questions

What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a method of removing unwanted hair from face and/or body. It is the only permanent hair removal system because it targets the hair follicle itself, permanently destroying it.

Electrolysis works by inserting a very fine sterile needle into the hair follicle in the natural opening of the skin and removing the hair roots by the application of heat using an electric current.

What causes unwanted hair growth?

There are several reasons why we get unwanted hair growth on the body and face:-

  1. A condition called Hirsutism is excessive hair growth on parts of the body and fac where hair is normally absent or minimal. This condition usually develops during puberty and is more pronounced as times goes on.
  2. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition affecting the ovaries and one of the side effects is excessive hair growth.
  3. Heredity plays a part too, along with hormone levels and even some drugs can stimulate hair growth.

Knowing what is causing excessive hair growth can help in a treatment plan. Electrolysis is a fast, effective treatment and can be carried out during a lunch hour.

Which areas can be treated?

All areas can be treated with electrolysis.

Common areas treated are on the face, lip, chin, cheeks, sides of face, eyebrows and neck. On the body – underarms, breasts, abdomen, and bikini line, edges of the beard, eyebrows, nose, ears, cheeks and areas where ingrown hairs appear.

Transgender/transsexual females commonly have the full beard, chest and back areas treated.

How soon will I notice a difference?

You’ll start to notice a difference after your first appointment. We’ll clear more or less the whole area decided on, and you can expect the growth to start slowing down.

With electrolysis, consistency is key. Keep up your regular appointment schedule, don’t tweeze or wax in-between, and you’ll soon start to see progress.

How many treatments will I need?

The first thing to ask yourself is how quickly do you want the hair to be removed? Regular, weekly appointments will clear an area much more quickly than monthly or sporadic appointments.

You can expect to be keeping a regular electrolysis schedule for at least a year for permanent results.
